Support group meeting

Had a lovely day today at the NFS group meeting in Brighton. Lots of new faces, and particularly great to meet a new couple who were placed with their 3 and 4 year old sons just six weeks ago, and to see how well their kids were already bonding with them - that kind of experience really makes things seem very real.

It was also a bit scary to hear some of the negative experiences a couple of the group have been having, one with a social worker that is cancelling home visits left right and centre, and taking four and five week gaps between sessions, which is really stressing the couple out quite considerably, and another couple who have been approved for a year and haven't yet been matched. It's quite disheartening when you hear those stories as I really am all psyched up for a placement next year, and I know I am going to be disappointed if that doesn't happen.

Still, have to remind ourselves that to date, our experience has been very positive and everyone has seemed quite organised and efficient. Let's just hope that continues.

Feeling very tired tonight but we have homework to do ahead of this weeks home visit, so must get on......
