Man up!

Well, I think I need to toughen up a bit if I'm to survive this process!! I've always been emotional, but have just watched a two parter shown on BBC2 this week, Neil Morrissey - Care Home Kid (thanks Chris for the recommendation!) and cried several times!

Neil was bought up in a care home, this two hour documentary retraced his steps, and looked at the impact on his adult life on his time in care. His journey is very different from what we're going to be doing, he was  in an institution, but it was still a very dramatic portrayal of both the bad, and the incredible good that can be done for a child.

Neil describes very well, the impact of feeling abandoned by his parents, but then left in the institutionalised setting of council care. I was shocked to hear that today, over 60,000 children in the UK are subject to care orders. Adoption seems like such a positive move for a child, at least they can be provided with love and warmth.

If you missed it, it will be on iPlayer until Tuesday - well worth watching!
